The choice

Three ways to choose a solemnisation venue in Singapore

A solemnisation venue in Singapore falls into one of three groups. You can marry in the ROM building itself, at a ROM onsite option such as the Ficus Room at Gardens by the Bay, or at a venue of your own choosing with a licensed solemniser that you book yourself. ROM says offsite ceremonies can be held on any day of the week, including weekends and public holidays, within the legal time frame.

The ROM routes are simple and low-key. Your own venue gives you control of the setting and guest list, and many solemnisation venues also host the meal. See our wedding venues and packages guide for banquet options.

The legal steps, fees and timelines are in our guide to registering your marriage with ROM. Rules change, so confirm them on marriage.gov.sg.

Packages

What a solemnisation package usually includes

Packages differ by venue, so read the inclusions line by line. Using the published Goodwood Park rental as one example, the package covers:

  • The ceremony space for a set period, for example 2 hours before a wedding.
  • A decorated solemnisation table and chairs, with a sash and posies on the couple’s chairs.
  • Floral stands and decorated chairs along the aisle.
  • A ring pillow, a signature pen, a sound system and two wireless microphones.
  • Soft drinks during the ceremony.

Other venues may bundle a tasting, a reception menu or accommodation, or offer none of these. Ask what is included, what costs extra (champagne and favours are priced as options at Goodwood Park), and whether service charge and GST are added on top.

The solemniser is separate from the venue package. ROM says solemnisers are volunteers and no fee is expected offsite, though you may reimburse costs or give a token of thanks.

Choosing

How to choose

  • Guest count first. The Ficus Room holds 40 including the couple and witnesses. Goodwood Park’s Mayfair Pool holds up to 30 and its Poolside Terrace up to 70. Rule out spaces that cannot seat your list.
  • Rain plan. Outdoor spots such as the Bandstand or a gazebo need an indoor fallback. Ask how the venue handles a wet day.
  • Booking rules. Public spaces need permits. NParks asks for submissions at least 14 days before use and blocks the Bandstand from 10 November 2026 to 10 January 2027.
  • Minimum spend. A rental fee can come with a food and beverage minimum, as at Goodwood Park. Compare the total, not the headline rate.
  • Date and solemniser. Confirm your solemniser is free before you pay a deposit.

Frequently asked questions

What is the best solemnisation venue in Singapore?

It depends on guest count, budget and style. The ROM building and Ficus Room are simplest. Hotels, heritage houses and gardens give you more control over setting and hosting.

Can we solemnise outside ROM?

Yes. ROM allows offsite solemnisation at a venue of your choice, on any day including weekends and public holidays, provided the date is within the legal time frame and you have booked a licensed solemniser. Confirm current rules on marriage.gov.sg.

How many guests can attend a solemnisation at the Ficus Room?

ROM’s guide for couples says the Ficus Room can accommodate up to 40 persons, including the groom, bride and two witnesses. Checked 2 October 2026.

How much does a solemnisation venue cost?

It varies. Goodwood Park Hotel publishes $1,500++ for 2 hours, with a $1,000++ minimum food and beverage spend for couples not holding their wedding there. NParks publishes Burkill Hall hire from $2,289.00 for a minimum of 4 hours, GST included. Many venues publish no rate and quote by enquiry. All checked 2 October 2026.

Do we need a permit to solemnise at the Botanic Gardens?

NParks says submissions are required at least 14 days before the date of use, and the Bandstand is unavailable from 10 November 2026 to 10 January 2027.
