Wedding planning Singapore: from first idea to the day itself

A practical guide to planners, venues and the legal steps, with a free matching service that connects you with up to three wedding planners who fit your brief.

How it works

How the wedding guide and matching work

Wedding planning in Singapore involves a lot of decisions made in a sensible order: the legal registration, the date, the guest list, the venue, the planner and the suppliers around them. This section of Events Singapore sets out those decisions in plain terms so you can see what comes first and what can wait.

The guide has five parts. One covers wedding planners and how to choose between full planning, partial planning and day-of coordination. One covers solemnisation venues. Three look at venues: wedding venues and packages, small and intimate venues, and outdoor and garden venues.

When you are ready to talk to a professional, fill in the wedding enquiry form. Tell us your rough date, guest count, budget and what you want help with. We read it and pass it to up to three planning partners whose services suit your brief. They contact you directly, you compare what they offer, and you decide whether to go ahead with any of them.

Enquiring is free and carries no obligation. You are not committed to meet, hire or reply to anyone, and you can stop at any point.

Planning timeline

A general planning timeline

Every couple’s pace differs, so treat this as a sequence rather than a schedule. Popular venues and planners book up for well-liked dates, so start earlier if you have a fixed day in mind.

Early on. Agree a rough budget, a guest count range and the type of celebration you want. These three decisions shape everything else. Decide whether you want a planner, and at what level.

Next. Shortlist dates and venues, and check availability before you commit to either. If you are registering at ROM or holding a solemnisation, check the official requirements so the legal date fits your plans.

Then. Book the venue and the core suppliers: catering if the venue does not provide it, photography, videography, florals, music and attire. A planner, if you have one, can often advise on this order and negotiate on your behalf.

In the final stretch. Confirm the guest list, seating, run of show and supplier timings, and make final payments on the dates in your contracts. Share one written schedule with everyone involved.

On the day. Someone other than you should be in charge of the timeline. That is the main job of an actual-day coordinator.

What do you need help with?

Frequently asked questions

Is the matching service free?

Yes. Sending an enquiry costs nothing and you are under no obligation to hire any planner who contacts you.

How many planners will contact me?

Up to three. We choose partners whose services fit the brief you give us, so a more detailed enquiry leads to a better match.

When should I start planning a Singapore wedding?

As early as you can, particularly if you want a specific date or a popular venue. Start with budget, guest count and date options, then book the venue and planner.

Do I need a wedding planner?

No, but many couples find one useful. Planners range from full planning to coordination on the day only. The wedding planner guide explains the differences.

Where do I find information on ROM in Singapore?

Our guide to registering at ROM explains the basics. Rules change, so always confirm the current requirements on the official Registry of Marriages website.
