Venue types

Four kinds of wedding venue

Most couples shortlist across types before they settle on one. The type shapes your guest count, budget, weather risk and how much you can personalise.

Hotel ballrooms. The usual choice for a wedding dinner of 200 guests or more. Hotels sell one bundled package with one team and one contract, in a weatherproof room. The trade-off is a fairly set format and a minimum number of tables.

Restaurants. Chinese and hotel restaurants suit smaller wedding lunches and dinners. Food is the focus, and private rooms keep the day personal. See our guide to small and intimate wedding venues for more.

Heritage and unique venues. Colonial mansions, restored hotels and historic rooms give you character that a standard ballroom cannot. Many have a garden for the solemnisation and a dining room for the meal, so ask about rain plans.

Outdoor and garden venues. Parks, lawns and resort grounds give you daylight and greenery, and they usually suit a ceremony and cocktail reception better than a seated banquet. Heat and sudden rain are real issues, so book a covered back-up. See our outdoor and garden venues guide.

Packages and pricing

How wedding packages work in Singapore

A wedding package is a bundled offer from a hotel or venue. Reading it closely is the quickest way to compare one venue with another.

What is usually included. A hotel wedding package typically covers use of the ballroom, a set banquet menu, a menu tasting, free-flow soft drinks and tea, house wine or beer, a champagne tower, a model cake, floral decoration, a guest book and a room for the wedding night. Inclusions differ by hotel and tier, so compare them line by line, not just the headline price.

Per table or per guest. Banquets are priced either per table of ten or per guest. Prices are usually quoted with ++, which means 10% service charge and prevailing GST are added on top. Ask for the all-in figure.

Minimum tables. Ballrooms set a minimum and sometimes a maximum number of tables. A smaller guest list may suit a smaller room or a restaurant.

Weekday, weekend, lunch and dinner. At the hotels in this guide that publish rates, lunch is priced at or below dinner, and Friday to Sunday dinners cost more than weekday dinners. Some hotels add a surcharge on auspicious dates.

Example from one hotel. Goodwood Park Hotel publishes its wedding package for banquets from 1 October 2026 to 30 September 2027: lunch at $1,768++ per table daily, and dinner at $1,768++ per table from Monday to Thursday, $1,968++ per table on Friday and Sunday, and $1,998++ per table on Saturday, eves of and on public holidays (as published on goodwoodparkhotel.com, checked 2 October 2026). The Tudor Ballroom requires 12 to 18 tables and the Windsor Ballroom 25 to 35 tables. The same sheet lists a first deposit of $8,000 nett and a $50++ per table surcharge on listed auspicious dates. This is one hotel, not a market average.

Affordable options. For affordable wedding venues in Singapore, three levers matter: lunch over dinner, a weekday over a weekend, and a guest list that fits the room’s minimum. Some venues also rent space without a banquet. The National Parks Board lists Burkill Hall at the Singapore Botanic Gardens at $2,289 for a minimum four-hour booking including GST (as published on sbg.nparks.gov.sg, checked 2 October 2026). That is venue hire only; food and styling are extra.

Venues to know

Wedding venues across Singapore

Facts below come from each venue’s own website, checked 2 October 2026. Prices appear only where the venue publishes them. Confirm availability and current terms directly.

Hotel ballroom

Goodwood Park Hotel

A heritage hotel on Scotts Road with two wedding ballrooms. The Windsor Ballroom is octagonal, with mirrored wall panels and a pillar-free layout. The Tudor Ballroom is smaller and has floor-to-ceiling windows with natural daylight. Its published package requires 12 to 18 tables in Tudor and 25 to 35 in Windsor.

Hotel ballroom

Shangri-La Singapore

Two pillarless ballrooms, the Tower Ballroom and the Island Ballroom, plus the Dutch Pavilion and Azalea Room for smaller groups. The hotel’s 2025 wedding brochure lists a Grand Collection dinner package from $208.80++ per guest (Silver), with a minimum of 380 guests in the Tower Ballroom and 600 in the Island Ballroom. Rates are from that brochure, so confirm the current edition.

Hotel and heritage

The Fullerton Hotel Singapore

Six wedding venues in the former Fullerton Building: the Ballroom, the Straits Room, the Lighthouse, East Garden, Roof Garden and Jade. The Straits Room is the former billiard room of the Singapore Club, with a barrel-vaulted ceiling and design elements from 1928. The hotel asks couples to enquire for packages.

Restaurant

Min Jiang Dempsey

A Sichuan and Cantonese restaurant run by Goodwood Park Hotel in a 5,000 square foot black and white colonial building on Dempsey Hill. It has a timber-decked alfresco area, a main dining room and private rooms, so it suits a garden-style wedding lunch or dinner.

Heritage mansion

The Alkaff Mansion

A Tudor-style mansion on Telok Blangah Hill with more than 100 years of history. Weddings use the outdoor courtyard and gazebo for solemnisation, with Spanish dining upstairs. The venue lists seated capacities of 113 indoors on Level 1, 250 outdoors on Level 1, 244 on Level 2 and 550 on The Grounds.

Garden

Singapore Botanic Gardens: Burkill Hall

A hall at Botany Centre with views over the National Orchid Garden. NParks lists capacity of 80 on Level 1 and 100 on Level 2, and describes it as suited to wedding ceremonies and solemnisations. The published hire rate is $2,289 including GST for a minimum of four hours.

Outdoor

Gardens by the Bay

Wedding spaces include Silver Leaf under the Supertrees (1,360 sqm), the Flower Field Hall (1,200 sqm) and the Waterview Room (600 sqm) in the Flower Dome. Packages include menus from wedding caterers, styling and a Garden Cruiser for guests. See our Gardens by the Bay venue guide.

Choosing

Match the venue to your guest list and date

Start with a realistic guest count and two or three possible dates. Venues quote against both, and a firm number lets you check each ballroom’s minimum table count.

A wedding planner can compare packages for you, negotiate inclusions and run the day. Read our guide to wedding planners in Singapore for how fees are commonly structured. If you plan to marry at a registry or hold a solemnisation separately, see solemnisation venues.

Before you commit

  • Is the price per table or per guest, and does it include service charge and GST?

  • What is the deposit, when is each payment due, and what is refundable if the date changes?
  • Are there surcharges for weekends, public holidays, auspicious dates or extra hours?
  • What does the menu include, and can it be changed? Is there a halal-certified kitchen, or can you serve vegetarian and other dietary needs?
  • Can I bring my own wine or liquor, and what is the corkage charge?
  • Can I use my own florist, photographer or band, or is there an approved supplier list?
  • Where does the ceremony happen, and what is the wet-weather plan for outdoor spaces?
  • How many car park lots do guests get, and is there a bridal room?

Frequently asked questions

How much does a wedding venue cost in Singapore?

It depends on the type, guest count, day and meal slot. Hotels publish per-table or per-guest banquet rates, and some charge more from Friday to Sunday. Venue-only hire leaves food and styling to you. Ask each venue for an all-in quote including service charge and GST.

Are wedding lunches cheaper than dinners?

Often, yes. Some hotels charge the same for lunch and a weekday dinner, and more for weekend dinners. Goodwood Park Hotel’s 2026 to 2027 package prices lunch at the same rate as a Monday to Thursday dinner. Check each venue’s published sheet.

What are affordable wedding venues in Singapore?

Weekday or lunch bookings, smaller guest lists and venue-only hire are the usual routes. Compare total cost, including food, decoration and corkage.
