Why go small

What an intimate wedding venue gives you

Intimate wedding venues in Singapore let you spend less time managing a large banquet and more time with the people in the room. A smaller guest list also opens up spaces that ballrooms cannot offer, such as a poolside terrace, a hotel rooftop or a restaurant private room.

Many couples pair a short solemnisation with a lunch or dinner at the same address. That means one booking, one set of suppliers and no travel between venues for older guests. If you want to compare large banquet halls, see our wedding venues and packages guide.

Venues

Eight small wedding venues to consider

Facts come from each venue’s own site, checked 2 October 2026. Capacities and prices appear only where the venue publishes them. Confirm current terms before you plan around them.

Poolside solemnisation

Goodwood Park Hotel: Mayfair Pool

An outdoor solemnisation setting beside the hotel’s Balinese-inspired Mayfair Pool, with a published capacity of up to 30 persons. The rental sheet lists $1,500++ for two hours of venue use before a wedding, and a minimum of $1,000++ F&B spend for couples not holding their wedding in the hotel (as published on goodwoodparkhotel.com, checked 2 October 2026; the sheet carries no validity date).

Terrace

Goodwood Park Hotel: Poolside Terrace

A timber-decked, shaded alfresco terrace at the L’Espresso restaurant, overlooking the hotel’s Main Pool. The hotel describes it as suited to a casual solemnisation and reception, with a published capacity of up to 70 persons. The same rental terms as Mayfair Pool apply, as published on goodwoodparkhotel.com.

Restaurant

Min Jiang Dempsey

A Sichuan and Cantonese restaurant in a 5,000 square foot one-storey colonial building on Dempsey Hill. It offers a timber-decked alfresco area for cocktails, a main dining area and private rooms for an intimate event.

Restaurant

Jade at The Fullerton Hotel

A Chinese restaurant with high ceilings and a jade-inspired palette. The hotel says it can be set up as two partitioned areas, and that two private rooms can be converted into an intimate solemnisation space. Menus are set or customised with the events team.

Rooftop

The Lighthouse, The Fullerton Hotel

An intimate venue at the top of the Fullerton building, on the spot where a beacon once guided ships into port. It has views of the skyline and Marina Bay, and a private rooftop for a solemnisation or an after-wedding party.

Hotel pavilion

Dutch Pavilion, Shangri-La Singapore

A colonial-style pavilion with a tropical outdoor terrace and a walkway leading up to it. The hotel’s 2025 brochure lists a minimum of 60 guests, with a dinner package at $238.80++ per guest and a lunch package at $208.80++ per guest. Brochure rates, so confirm the current edition. The hotel also has the Azalea Room, a private function room, with a minimum of 160 guests.

Garden hall

Burkill Hall, Singapore Botanic Gardens

A hall at Botany Centre with views of the National Orchid Garden. NParks lists capacity of 80 persons on Level 1 and 100 persons on Level 2, and lists it as suited to wedding ceremonies and solemnisations. The published rate is $2,289 including GST for a minimum of four hours (as published on sbg.nparks.gov.sg, checked 2 October 2026).

Heritage mansion

The Alkaff Mansion

A Tudor-style mansion on Telok Blangah Hill, with an outdoor gazebo for solemnisation. The indoor space on Level 1 is listed at 113 guests, the smallest of its published capacities. Spanish dining is on the upper level.

Solemnisation

Solemnisation venues: what to check

A solemnisation venue in Singapore needs space for the couple, witnesses and guests, a dignified setting and a calm place to sign. Some venues host a licensed solemniser, and some couples marry at the Registry of Marriages and celebrate elsewhere. Gardens by the Bay says solemnisations conducted by the Registry of Marriages and the Registry of Muslim Marriages can take place at its Ficus Room (see our Gardens by the Bay venue guide). Legal steps and fees change, so read our guide to registering at ROM and confirm details on the ROM website.

Planning tips

Planning a small wedding

Set the guest list first. Capacity is the first filter. A venue that holds 30 does not work for 45, and a room that is too large feels empty with a small group.

Ask about minimum spend and minimum guests. Small does not always mean cheap: restaurants and hotel pavilions often set a minimum number of guests or a minimum food and beverage spend, and venue-only hire can come with its own charges.

Choose lunch or a weekday. These slots are usually easier to book and can lower the cost. Ask what changes between lunch and dinner and between weekday and weekend.

Plan for weather. For terraces, rooftops and gardens, ask where the ceremony moves if it rains and how long the switch takes.

Check access for older guests. Heritage buildings can have stairs and long walks. Ask about lifts, drop-off points and parking.

Keep the day short. A planner or the venue’s wedding team can build a run-sheet that fits the ceremony, meal and photos into the hours you have booked.

Frequently asked questions

What is the best small wedding venue in Singapore?

It depends on your guest count, budget and style. Restaurants suit food-led celebrations, heritage mansions suit couples after character, and rooftops suit skyline views. Shortlist three, compare capacity and minimums, and visit them.

Can I have a restaurant wedding in Singapore?

Yes. Several hotel restaurants and standalone restaurants host wedding lunches, dinners and solemnisations in private rooms or the main dining hall. Ask about the minimum spend, minimum guests and whether the room can be set up for a ceremony.

How many guests count as an intimate wedding?

There is no fixed rule. The smaller spaces in this guide publish capacities from 30 to 113 persons.

Where can I hold a solemnisation in Singapore?

At the Registry of Marriages, or at a hotel, restaurant, garden or heritage venue that hosts a solemnisation by a licensed solemniser. Check the venue’s rules and the official ROM guidance.

Do small venues cost less than ballrooms?

Not always. A smaller group means a smaller total bill, but the price per guest can be the same or higher, and some venues set minimum spends. Compare the per-guest cost, not only the total.
